Obituary for Paula C. Costanzo

Paula C. Costanzo, 88, of Scranton and formerly of Elmhurst Twp, died on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. She was the widow of Samuel Costanzo, who died on May 12, 1988. The couple was married for 37 years when he passed away.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Morelli) Salamida. Paula graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1947 and worked as a professional masseuse at the Scranton JCC. She was a member of the The Presbyterian Church of Dunmore where she sang in the choir for more than 70 years, served as an Elder and was ordained as a Deacon.

Paula had a deep love for music and could be heard singing or listening to music all of the time. She sang with The Scranton Choraleers, The Wally Gordon Community Singers and in a trio called “Joyful Sounds” with her dear friends Joan Cross & Sue Anne Dixon. She was also an amazing cook.

As a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, Paula cherished the time she spent making memories with her family.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Debra Costanzo of Scottsdale, AZ and Diane Tomcykoski of Elmhurst Twp; her grandchildren: Misty Jaymes and her husband David of Emmaus, Tiffany Golden and her husband Brian of N.C., Brittany Espinel of Miami, FL; her granddaughter in law: Meghan Tomcykoski of Gouldsboro; her great grandchildren: Lashawn, Emmanuel, Xavier, Shane, Devon, Brittany Sky, Cambria, Joseph & Jordan; her sister: Lois Hoffman and her husband Harold H “Buzz” and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son in law: Joseph Tomcykoski and her grandson: Matthew Tomcykoski.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 26 at 11:00 am at The Presbyterian Church of Dunmore, 137 Chestnut St in Dunmore with Rev. Ken Forbes officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 25 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC 3 First St in Spring Brook Twp. An additional viewing will be held on Thursday, July 26 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church.
