Ann Marie Manley Coles, 88, of Roaring Brook Twp., died Saturday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the wife of the late Harold (Hank Gunga) Coles Jr. They were married for 48 years.

Born in Scranton, a native of the Bellevue section of the city, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Barrett Manley. A former member of Holy Cross Church, Scranton, Ann Marie attended St. Ann's Monastery School and had a great devotion to St. Ann. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1947. In her younger years, Ann Marie worked at Fashion Shoes. She was a day care mother and retired from JC Penney Catalog Co.

Ann Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Eulalia's Church in Roaring Brook and a member of the Social Concerns Committee. She enjoyed celebrating her proud Irish heritage, even becoming a Ceili Dancer. Ann Marie was a member of the Irish Cultural Society of Scranton and The Donegal Society of Wilkes-Barre. She treasured the memories made with her dear friends vacationing in the Catskills and at Irish Village in Cape Cod. Ann Marie was a great supporter of North Pocono sports along with her husband, Hank, who was also very involved in the North Pocono Boosters. She was most happy when being with her family and lived by the three 'Fs,' Faith-Family-Friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke's Hospital, Mountain View Care Center and Geisinger CMC for their compassion and care.

Surviving are two sons, James Coles and wife, Valerie, of Clarks Summit; Jerry Coles and wife, Clarita, of Roaring Brook Twp.; three daughters, Ann Ratchford and husband, Michael, of Roaring Brook Twp.; Patricia Novobilski and husband, Brian, of Allentown; and Kathleen Brown and husband, Stephen, of Dunmore; seven grandchildren, Melanie Coles, Aaron, Sean, and Colin Coles, Kyle Novobilski, Sarah and Colleen Brown; two sisters, Eileen Woelkers of Dunmore and Alice Grippi of Vorhees, N.J.; and a sister-in-law, Rita Manley of Bellevue; several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas; two sisters, Rose Manley Clifford and Jane Manley Henning; a brother, Charles A. Manley Jr.; as well as two nephews, Charles J. Manley and Tony Coles; and a niece, Catherine Manley Coffey.

Friends are invited to attend Ann Marie's funeral, which will begin on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 from St. Eulalia's Church, Blue Shutters Road, Roaring Brook Twp., celebrated by Monsignor John Jordan, pastor. Interment with Rite of Committal will follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

A viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services LLC in Spring Brook Twp.

In honor of Ann Marie, the family asks that you would wear green.
