Obituary for Lewis Dale Gardner III

Lewis Dale Gardner III passed away unexpectedly at the age of 26 at home in Spring Brook Twp. on August 18, 2018.

Born in Scranton on May 27, 1992, Lewis was a 2010 graduate of Holy Cross High School in Dunmore. He then served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and had attained the status of Corporal in April 2016. Lewis was a May 2018 graduate of the Physical Therapy Assistant Program of Lackawanna College and also worked as a bartender at the Y-not Pub & Eatery in Elmhurst.

Larger than life, Lewis was known for his infectious smile, big heart and his gift of gab. Lewis’ past times included boating, camping, hunting, playing poker, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, the dart league, riding his motorcycle, tattoos, music, going to concerts and so much more. Most of all his love of reading began at such a young age and shared that universal love for books with everyone. But, his true passion was spending time with his family and friends especially Saturday night dinners at Gram’s, holidays and family vacations.

He is survived by his parents, Lewis and Erin (Shields) Gardner and his two brothers, Colin and Jared; his grandmother, Donna (Zenkavich) Gardner; Aunt Nicole and Uncle Andy; cousins Nicholas and Alexandria Trinovitch; Uncle Dan and Aunt Jackie, and cousin Mackenzie Gardner; Uncle Paul and Aunt Bobbi, and cousins Catie and Ali Shields; cousins Jacqueline, Richard and wife, Janel, and Lauren Vaicekauskas. Lewis was blessed with an extended family which included the Zenkavichs, the Delmores, the Minichellos, the Lastuaskas, the Blaines and the Gardners.

Lewis was preceded in death by grandfather, Lewis D. Gardner, Sr., grandmother, Rosemary Shields, Aunt Catherine Shields Vaicekauskas, Uncle Daniel Shields, and cousins RJ Minichello and Madylin Rose Perry.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, LLC, 3 First Street in Spring Brook Twp. Friends and family may visit from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 23, 2018, with a memorial service at 11:00 am on Friday, August 24, 2018.
