Obituary for Gerard A. Ritter

Gerard A. Ritter, 67, of Scranton died on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Regional Hospital in Scranton. Gerard and his wife, Theresa (Wiktor) Ritter, were married in 1973 and as he always reminded her “I'm married more than half my life.”

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Alice K. Ritter of Elmhurst Twp and the late Gerard H. Ritter. Gerard graduated from South Catholic High School and earned his Bachelors in History from the University of Scranton. He was proud to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and enjoyed volunteering with the Boy Scouts as an adult. Working in the dental supply industry, he was the past Vice President of Merchandise for Leventhal Dental and retired from Benco Dental. Gerard was a former member of St. Mary's of the Assumption and currently a member of St. John Neumann Parish.

When he wasn't working, Gerard was a history buff, enjoyed reading and watching old westerns on TV. He was proud to have been a platelet donor for the past eight years, and would be honored to know his organs and tissues will help others through the Gift of Life.

Gerard is also survived by his children: Tracy Ritter and Matthew Ritter, both of Scranton; his siblings: Susan Norek and her husband Thomas of Madison Twp & Mark Ritter of Scranton; his brother in law: John Wiktor and his wife Dianne of Binghamton; his aunt: Rosemarie Kennedy of Virginia Beach, VA; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his furry canine friend: Dayna.
