Obituary for Eugene "Gino" Hapersberger

My beloved husband and best friend took his last ride to be with his heavenly father early Wednesday morning, June 13, 2018.

Eugene “Gino” Hapersberger of Clifton Township died peacefully surrounded by his family after a brief illness. His wife of nearly 19 years is the former Debbie (Ives).

Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late John and Adelaide (VanLouvender) Hapersberger. Gino was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot until his retirement in 2011. He was a sheet metal fabricator and traveled all over the world.

In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time with his siblings; whether they were casting a line waiting for their next big catch or patiently waiting for “that” buck, they always had a good time making memories.

Affectionately known as “Grizz” or “Papa Bear” by everyone, his, wife, children and grandchildren were his whole life and he surrounded himself with them as much as he could. Gino had six grandchildren and each had their own nickname.

In addition to his wife, Debbie, he is survived by his daughter: Kerry Bell and her husband Joe of Lake Ariel; his son: Michael Stevens and his wife Hillary of Bushkill; his grandsons: Jacob Hapersberger of Jessup, Jordyn Goebel of Lake Ariel; his granddaughters: Keira Pfeifer, Julia Bell & Annalise Hapersberger all of Lake Ariel and Ella Bell of Clarks Summit; his brother: Jack Hapersberger and his wife Phyllis of Avoca; his sister: Bonnie Surridge and her husband David of Old Forge and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son: Jody Shawn; his brothers: George, Paul, William and Leonard and his sisters: Wilma and Norma.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 am at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC 3 First St. in Spring Brook Twp to be conducted by Father Earl Trygar. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp.

Viewing will be on Sunday, June 17 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215 or National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY 10016.
