William C. Walsh, Sr., 86, formerly of Scranton, died Monday morning in the Green Ridge Healthcare Center , Scranton . His wife of 57 years, the former, Mary T. Hunt, died July 14, 2009. Born in Scranton the son of the late William C. and Elvira Kempter Walsh, he was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Scranton. For many years he was a store manager for Acme Markets and later as a salesman for Gerber Products. After retirement he enjoyed trips to the car auctions to transport cars back to local dealers. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and it’s Nativity of Our Lord Church, and recently attended St. Catherine of Sienna Church. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. His lifelong enthusiasm of family will be remembered by his children and grandchildren. His loving energy was the strength he continually expressed to his loved ones. Memories of his good humor will remain in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. An avid N.H.R.A. fan, he loved traveling the cross country circuit to support both of his sons’ drag racing teams. He enjoyed spending time with friends, whether it be traveling or going on cruises. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. Surviving are: He was preceded in death by a sister Miriam Wullert and a sister in law, Eileen Hunt Walsh, and son-in-law Joseph Washinko. Funeral InformationThe funeral will be Friday at 9:00am from the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3 First Street , Spring Brook Twp., Pa 18444, with mass at 9:30am in the Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard Street, Scranton, Pa 18505, to be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Bryant, pastor. Interment to follow in St. Catherine’s’ Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in the funeral home.
