Helen Begay Mellnick, 90, formerly of Scranton, died Saturday, March 31st, in the Metro Detroit area, where she resided for the past 60 years. She was the wife of the late Frank Mellnick. Born in Scranton she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Cheremkevitch Begay. Surviving are two sons Frank Mellnick Jr. and his wife Jane, Michigan, Thomas Mellnick and his wife Joan, Michigan; grand children Thomas Mellnick Jr. and his wife Lynn, Gerard Mellnick, Michele Pietron and her husband Mark, Anne O’Connor and her husband Steve, John Mellnick and his wife Lisa and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral InformationA prayer service will be held Tuesday April 10th at 11:00am in the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505, to be officiated by her brother, Rev. Joseph Begay. Interment to follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. A funeral mass was held in St. John’s the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00am in the funeral home.
